Benefits/Contributions
Based
on the objectives above, the project development will propose a new security
system which can be commercial in our local and international market. The
devices will follow the current trend which needs high technology devices. The
situation will guarantee that the devices can be commercialized as part of
vehicle accessory. There for we can produce a new device which is affordable
and reliable to be commercialized. The primary contributions of this project
are:
1.Dual mode security
Thumbprint system is installed on vehicle that also have key as starter.
The data on thumbprint system not allow unauthorized person to start the
engine.
2.New application
Thumbprint system already use at many application. By using thumbprint system at vehicle, it looks
more intelligent and secure.
3.Live thumbprint identification
The systems only recognize the live thumbprint for start the engine.
Copy of thumbprint like use a piece
of plastic that have owner thumbprint will be detected and the engine cannot be
start.
The fingerprint reader
connects with microcontroller using universal asynchronous receiver transmitter
(UART) communication. UART is one type of serial communication. Data will be
process by microcontroller which attached with fingerprint reader. DC motor will
present starter motor. Microcontroller will process data and compare with saved
fingerprint’s data, if data match with owner it will turn on starter motor.
The flow chart will show in figure 2, how this
system functions. This system will use the left thumb, right thumb and key to
operate this system where the right thumb for right on the main system and the
left thumb to off the system. This system will continues to check for three (3)
inputs left thumb, right thumb and key. To configure the system, the left thumb
will be used. If the match left thumb, the system will check whether the
previous status on or off. As for the game right thumb, the system will check
whether the key switch on or off. If the principle instead of, for the LED
indicator will be the system to store new data into the main ROM. Then the
starter motor is on. To check the status of the system, it is important to be
included. This is only for security reasons.
Thumbprint system for vehicle has to go
through several phases to complete. The design specification, block diagram and
connection of all hardware will be explained in details. The information has
been search through browsing internet and looking through reference books,
magazine and datasheet. Figure 1 shows in block diagram that the project will
employ.
The
block diagram above show how this system operates. Fingerprint reader is used
as input to identify the data given. So the data will be read by
microcontroller and delivered to starter motor. LED indicator just to show that
the system in running condition. Key will be used if vehicle need to service at
workshop. The principle owner will deactivate thumbprint system, and key can be
use as usual..........
There are several ways to start a vehicle. One of them is by key. Key is
a basic system that has been created for all types of vehicles. For a fast
moving technology, a conventional key is replaced with a more sophisticated
system for security reason, although key systems are still available until now.
Push button and smart key is part of the option for user to start their vehicle
engine [9].This system look more advanced compare to conventional keys. But the
problem of having this system is that it is not fully secure. One of the preferable
methods is by using thumbprint system. This system is more secure compared to
keys. This system will use left and right thumbprint. Every person has
different thumbprint. Thumbs is divided into several types and different
circles such as loop, arch and whorls.
Fingerprints
are usually partitioned into five main classes (arch, tented arch, left loop,
right loop and whorl) according to the number and position of their
macro-singularities [10].The ridgeline flow can be effectively described by a
structure called directional map, which is a discrete matrix whose elements
denote the orientation of the tangent to the ridge lines. Analogously, the
ridge line density can be summarized by using a density map. Within these three categories there are about 30
different minutia points [11]. This is what makes fingerprint so unique is
because no one has the same number of minutia points in the same place. Also
between right and left thumb, there are still differences.
Other
very important features can be discovered in fingerprint patterns. These micro
singularities, called minutiae or Galton characteristics, are essentially
determined by the termination or the bifurcation of the ridge lines.The system will use fingerprint reader and the key
as an input, then the microcontroller will process data received from the input
and then move it to the starter motor and LED indicator.
At
present, most systems have used new technology vehicles, such as push-button
start and smart key. But, the problem of lost or stolen cars still exist. With
the introduction of the fingerprint system as a starter, to face the overcome
problems so use the tools that called a fingerprint scanner or fingerprint
system, this tool can performs the verification process by scanning the fingerprint,
the appliance can sign that problems, because everyone has an unique
fingerprint or a different fingerprint, it can prevent the falsification of
data and lack of time.
It
is also possible to replace old technology with new fingerprint system. This
study tried to find the use of fingerprint systems in vehicle applications. In
some of these unfortunate events, the fingerprint system fails to recognize the
owner data. There are many reasons that have occurred as the owner of the hand
when in a wet, dirty and component failures. In addition, the problem is the
expense for tools used equipment is very expensive, we also have to choose a
better quality tool for users or owners.
In
terms of critical information needed to reconstruct the continual phase and
frequencies of fingerprint ridges are unknown is also common. So the
information needed to reconstruct the fingerprint realistic, such as
brightness, contrast, background noise fingerprint sensor, and the
characteristics of the ridge detail (pores, contour) is also done to it.
Therefore this problem is to reconstruct the original fingerprint image by
carrying out the following four steps, realistic fingerprints, such as
brightness, contrast and background noise sensor and fingerprint ridge
characteristics in detail.
This
system should be maintained properly for best performance. Therefore, it is
important to develop methods to estimate the reliability of the system, to
ensure it will perform satisfactorily and safely used by vehicle owners when
needed.
